1. Scope & Overview
Closed Circuit operates as a private, closed-network broadcasting application. Unlike public social media platforms, live video feeds on Closed Circuit are restricted exclusively to invited, authenticated members within designated Family or Affinity groups.
This policy applies to all users of the platform, including Content Creators who broadcast events and Viewers who join private streams.
2. Information We Collect
We adhere to strict data minimization. We only collect information necessary to provide private streaming services:
Account & Profile Details
Email address (used for registration, verification link, and password recovery), display name, optional profile picture, account role (Creator or Viewer), and encrypted credentials managed via Firebase Authentication.
Group Data & Invitations
Names given to Family or Affinity groups, group membership rosters (strictly capped at up to 6 members per private group session), and logs of invitations sent, accepted, or declined.
Virtual Tokens & In-App Purchases
Apple StoreKit transaction tokens and receipts, in-app token balances, event ticket deduction logs, and creator payout balances. We never collect or store credit card numbers.
Technical Diagnostics
Push notification tokens (Apple APNs and Firebase Cloud Messaging) to alert you of incoming streams, device model, iOS version, and network latency diagnostics to maintain video quality.
3. iOS Hardware Permissions
The iOS application requests explicit runtime permission before accessing device sensors:
Camera: Required only when a Content Creator initiates a live broadcast to stream video to group members. Viewers do not need camera access.
Microphone: Required when broadcasting so creators can speak and transmit audio to viewers.
Push Notifications: Used to notify members when an invited creator starts broadcasting or sends a group invite. Can be toggled anytime in iOS Settings.
4. How We Use Information
- Authenticating user accounts and managing group permissions.
- Transmitting low-latency, encrypted live video feeds between creators and invited group members.
- Processing virtual token deductions upon event entry and computing creator earnings.
- Sending push notifications for group invitations and broadcast alerts.
- Investigating technical issues and addressing support inquiries.
5. Private Live Stream Isolation
No Public Directory:Closed Circuit has no public feed, discovery algorithm, or unlisted broadcast sharing. Broadcasts are invisible to anyone outside the creator’s private group.
Ephemeral Video: Streams are transmitted in real time. We do not covertly record, harvest, or archive private video feeds without creator direction.
6-Member Cap: Broadcast sessions are capped at 6 viewers to maintain stream responsiveness, low latency, and private intimacy.
6. Tokens & Apple StoreKit
All token purchases on iOS are processed exclusively through Apple StoreKit In-App Purchase in accordance with App Store Review Guideline 3.1.1. Payment transactions are executed directly by Apple. When a viewer enters a ticketed live stream, ticket tokens are deducted via secure server-side logic. Refunds for in-app purchases are governed by Apple’s refund policy via reportaproblem.apple.com.
8. Account Deletion & Data Retention
Under Apple App Store Guideline 5.1.1(v), you have the right to delete your account and all associated personal data directly within the iOS application at any time.
How to Delete Your Account in the App:
- Open the Closed Circuit app.
- Go to your Profile.
- Tap Privacy & Security.
- Select Delete Account and confirm.
Upon deletion, your account credentials, profile details, and group memberships are permanently erased from our active database. Diagnostic telemetry logs are purged within 30 days.
9. Security Safeguards
We implement industry-standard safeguards including TLS 1.3 encryption in transit, DTLS/SRTP for media streams, AES-256 encryption at rest for database documents, and Firebase Security Rules ensuring private group isolation. Token deductions run strictly on server-side Cloud Functions to prevent tampering.
10. Children’s Privacy (COPPA)
Closed Circuit is not directed to individuals under 13 years of age. Accounts must be registered by adults. When family groups include minor family members, the account must be operated under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian.
11. Global Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you have rights under the GDPR and California CCPA/CPRA to access, correct, port, or request deletion of your personal information. Closed Circuit does not sell personal information or share data for behavioral advertising.
